Our Heritage
In
response to the potential gravity of the unemployment problem Mr.
Saktipada Bhattacharjee was established East India Technical &
Commercial Survey Institution in the year 1968. It was one of the
pioneers in technical education in Eastern India. He was a brilliant
Surveyor of Bandel Survey Institute, Bandel, Hooghly had obtained
Gold Medal in Survey Engineering. He was also a Master Degree Holder,
joined as a head teacher in a school of West Bengal before 1968. It
was the time when the agrarian economy was experiencing a recession
and on contrary, industrial growth was accelerated in India.
Increased rate of urbanization was enhancing the levels of education
within a larger number of youths, leading them to a higher level of
expectations in securing jobs and making a career. But the education
they were getting was not at all job oriented. Thus they failed to
prove themselves to be worthy for the fast growing Indian industry
requirements. This was creating a big void resulting into a greater
employment problem.
50
years ago, Mr. Bhattacharjee understood the need for training the
youth of the country. Some of the prevalent courses during that phase
were:
- Amin
Surveyor
- Junior Surveyor
- Senior Surveyor
After
his death in the year 1986, SPB Technical Institute has been
established in the year 2007 in his memory. Today it offers a more
comprehensive range of training programs in the fields of
Construction, IT-ITES, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Garment
Making, Beauty Culture and Hair Dressing and Refrigeration and Air
Conditioning etc through a network of more than 30 centres in eastern
India.
